John McCain, the candidate of the Republican Party for the American presidency, asserts that his negative campaign against the democratic opponent Barack Obama is true.
He claims that Obama called McCains vice-president Sarah Palin “a pig” and that he supported sexual education in kindergarten. “Indeed, its not a lie, announced McCain in a television program on ABC.
Obamas camp reacted strongly to the negative ad and maintains that McCain distorted the democrats statements. The republicans interpreted Obamas lipstick on a pig comment, regarding McCains efforts to promote change, as if the senator from Illinois sexually offended Mrs. Palin. “He should not have said that. We carefully choose the words, this is a serious campaign, commented McCain.
This week, McCain started another dispute when in a campaign ad he criticized Obama, asserting that the Illinois senator supported a law which would bring sexual education into kindergarten.
Teach children about sex before we teach them how to read? Barack Obama. Wrong for education. Wrong for your family”, the ad states. In reality, the law would only allow local schools to teach sexual education “adequately based on the age of the child.
If the law were to pass, children in kindergarten would be taught how to identify sexual harassment and improper touches. Obamas camp strongly reacted to this. “It is shameful and perverse when an act intended for the protection of young children from sexual harassment is used by McCains campaign as a political attack against a father of two little girls,” announced Bill Burton, the spokesperson of Obamas campaign.
“A week ago in an interview for the Time, McCain could not define what the word honor means. Now we know why”, he added.
