US Applies Old and Failed Methods of Subversion against Bolivia

As we approach the general election in Bolivia, planned for 2014, the United States accelerates the implementation of old and failed methods of subversion that are very well known in various Latin American countries; The U.S. has experimented with these methods in Cuba since the first years of the Revolution in the 1960s.

Truly, Washington has demonstrated that it lacks initiative in its war against revolutionary processes; this is easily discovered if one investigates just a little into the history of Washington’s perverse and illegal attempts to overthrow the governments in Latin America that it considers “adversaries.”

Amongst the principal tactics included in the subversion plans of the North American regimes and their secret services, such as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), are the continual belittlement of top leaders of revolutionary processes, the creation of false contradictions between principal officials, the encouragement and exacerbation of local conflicts and conflicts with neighboring countries, and the creation of “opponents” whom are unscrupulously funded by the Pentagon.

Today the United States targets Bolivia with these same outdated and sloppy tactics because President Evo Morales is an “enemy” to dethrone in this region, because of the process of change that is occurring in his country in favor of the most dispossessed, and because of his clear anti-imperialist and integration stance.

A media campaign against Evo, related to his supposed personal assets, has intensified in the last couple of weeks with the complicity of conservative “spokesmen” who lack prestige as well as media controlled by the weak and discredited Bolivian right-wing traditionalists.

The campaign aims externally and internally to show, without any evidence, that “profound divergences” exist between the president of Bolivia and his vice president, Alvaro Garcia Linera. Racist and ethnic elements are utilized for this purpose, given the concrete fact the president is indigenous and the vice president is white.

It has even been published, by an unknown source from a South American country, that Linera was implicated in a supposed attempt against Evo. This is a real deceit, evidently designed to achieve the age-old imperial precept “divide and conquer.”

It is worth noting that Washington used, and still uses, identical campaigns against Cuba to make believe that substantive contradictions exist between the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the current president, Raul Castro.

Another subversive tactic that Washington has used against the Caribbean island, and is currently using in Bolivia and other South American nations such as Venezuela, Ecuador and Nicaragua, is the manufacture of “peaceful opponents.” These are little characters who continuously repeat fallacies, like deceitful parrots. They groundlessly criticize any determination made by the progressive leaders of the region, and are well-paid for their cooperation by Washington.

The authorities and the Bolivian people have to be prepared for these assaults from Washington, which are well-coordinated with the nationalistic right-wing sectors, that will undoubtedly intensify leading up to the election in 2014.

It is even expected that the campaigns against Evo will include rumors about his health, as we have seen on repeated occasions in similar campaigns against the president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, and Fidel Castro.

The methods and the final objective of the White House and its secret service are well known. They should by no means be underrated, despite the fact that they have failed in the last few years because of the revolutionary and unifying winds that blow strongly in Latin America.
