ANY form of war launched by Israel on Lebanon will be construed as a war on terror which began in Afghanistan and Iraq. Having understood this issue, the Arab world and the international community continue to remain silent on the crisis faced by Lebanon. Destruction and mayhem will not end until Hezbollah is rooted out. Havoc will be inevitable until the Syria-Iran combine end its resistance to American efforts to democratize the Middle East. Hezbullah is a weak entity on its own, and would not be able to continue its resistance but for the support of Syria and Iran. Without such support, the war that is now taking place would be brief.
The group is impotent in the sense that without the pressure exerted by Syria and Iran, it would be unable to stand against the U.S. plan to democratize the Middle East. At the same time, it is unable to openly involve Iran and Syria in Lebanon’s dilemma. In the end, Hezbullah will be on its own and rendered incapable of continuing the war against the American democratization process.
Meanwhile, Israel uses Hezbullah as an excuse to destroy Lebanon’s infrastructure and economy and kill innocent Lebanese. The people of Lebanon are suffering a war in which they have no part. The ongoing war is being fought by other parties on Lebanese soil. What is the fault of the Lebanese, who have been displaced from their homes and forced to seek safety in caves to save their lives from Israeli bombings? The people of Lebanon suffer from a war fought by outsiders. This war won’t end until Hezbullah is eliminated and the role of Iran and Syria is ended. Arab countries are silent because they side with the international community in its efforts to end this problem.
Hezbullah will soon be finished for good. When this is done it won’t be because of the silence of the Arab world. It will be due to the withdrawal of Iran from the war, after it settles the dispute over its nuclear program with the international community. We hope the Lebanese, who are a kidnapped community and have been forced to suffer for the interests of others, will quickly return to a normal life and to rebuild their future.
