American Comments Made With No Shame!

All eyes are on U.S. Vice President Biden’s visit with hopes that perhaps he can achieve a step forward in advancing the political process being prevented by the Israeli apartheid state.

At a time when Senator George Mitchell is in historic Palestine to proceed with the indirect negotiations, the Israeli government’s extreme right-wing allows the construction of 112 new housing units in the settlement of "Beitar Elite" near the city of Bethlehem, and instead of admitting that the Israeli government is violating the terms of the political settlement between Israel and Palestine, particularly the first item on the list, the spokesman for the State Department announces that what Israel has done is not considered to be a violation of the agreement. It is consistent with the political settlement process?! How, and on what basis can the State Department spokesman dare to announce such a position, contradicting not only the terms of the settlement, especially the roadmap peace plan, but contradicting the current administration, starting with the U.S. President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Vice President Biden, Chairman of the National Security Council Jones, and Senator George Mitchell, the Special Envoy for the peace process in the Middle East?

The question that really needs to be answered here is: Can the U.S. administration be an honest mediator between Israel and Palestine with such crippled policies? What were the American interests when the State Department spokesman volunteered to make such a statement? What is the American wisdom in this?

Assuming that the U.S. administration is an accomplice to Israel (which is indeed the case) why did the spokesmen not remain silent about the Israeli violations? Why voluntarily speak to the media contradicting the basic terms of the political settlement process? The settlement of "Beitar Elite" and all the settlements on occupied Palestinian lands since 1967 are illegal and there is no international law, international convention or anything that permitted them to do so except the law of the jungle!

Why are Americans not the least concerned about the feelings of the Palestinian and Arab people and leadership? Do Arabs not have feelings and emotions? Do Americans not have interests with our countries?

Since between World Wars I and II, and after expanding the scope of the "Grand Area,” i.e., the U.S. interests area which included the Arab region’s wealth, American attention to the protégé state of Israel did not stop America from speaking dishonest complements to Arabs!

Without denying the role of the United States in the region’s political process, and not just any role, but the central and foundational role because of its influence and dominance on a global scale, the announcement made by the U.S. is far from logic and reason. In other words, the American position is rude, politically immoral and not worthy of America’s status or role. America should not forget itself if it wants to maintain its role as a mediator with vital interests in the region.

The announcement by the U.S. State Department spokesman is really shameful to U.S politics. The U.S. administration should have pressured the Israeli government to curb its tendencies of aggression towards the Palestinian people.

The U.S. administration should think carefully before making any statements so as not to add new points to its already negative record in the circles of Palestinians, Arabs, and the Islamic world, in particular. Even more so when Obama will host a conference about "strengthening the partnership" with Muslims, which are mainly Arabs, in about a month and a half.
