An Ironclad Commitment
In statements delivered to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, American presidents, including Barack Obama, have sought to simultaneously promote U.S. interests while appeasing the Jewish lobby. Reagan and Bush, as well as Carter and Clinton, all pledged to ensure the security of Israel and preserve its military superiority over the combined forces of the surrounding Arab countries. Likewise, Obama reasserted in his own speech recently that "the commitment of the United States to the security of Israel is ironclad."
In his statement Obama spoke of the necessity of establishing a Palestinian state in accordance with the 1967 demarcation lines, and of establishing common borders with Egypt and Jordan. He added that there should be an exchange of territory between the two sides.
These assertions reveal the extent of Israeli privilege and provide the opportunity for a withdrawal or land swap of territory beyond the 1967 borders, annexed by Israel, taken over by illegal settlements, and cut off by an apartheid-like wall. Today, Obama followed his predecessors in proclaiming U.S. loyalty to Israel's empowerment of the extremist Netanyahu government, the establishment a Jewish terrorist entity, and the continued deception of the Arabs and Palestinians.
In this plan, the promised Palestinian state remains nothing more than a placebo. In the same way, U.S. support for Israel remains undiminished, and will continue to violate the most basic rules of logic, in opposition to United Nations resolutions and international legitimacy.
