The Prime Minister, the Washington Post and the Bharatiya Janata Party
American newspaper The Washington Post's comments against Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the reaction of the country's main opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party show which way the politics of our country is heading... and the direction in which it is going cannot be considered correct. In this instance the whole country as one should have criticized the Washington Post as severely as possible. After all, it has made fun of the prime minister of a sovereign country and the world's largest democracy, which in a way is similar to making fun of the whole country. It is true that by switching around a few words, the article published in the Washington Post is saying the same thing that is often being said these days by a section of the media. There are many things that are not wrong as well. For example, there is no doubt that the honest Prime Minister Singh is heading what is perhaps independent India's most corrupt government. However, the Indian media has the right to say all this. Our media should be telling the people about the overall good and bad aspects of the government.
The question is, who has given this right to others to speak on this issue? If others try to forcibly comment without being invited, then they should be answered; however, the sad thing is that the Bharatiya Janata Party lost this opportunity. The party that talks most about nationalism is also the Bharatiya Janata Party, but when others make fun of your prime minister and you take it as an opportunity to say yes to this, then nationalism needs to be redefined. You should have properly criticized this American newspaper. At least, you should have said that what the Washington Post has written is true, but it should not have written it like this. If you could not say something like this, then you should have just kept your mouth shut, just like all the other political parties kept quiet.
But your happiness could just not be hidden; on top of it you are nationalists. Significantly, the nonsense that the Washington Post has written is because of its pro-American stance. Actually, our prime minister is not fulfilling the U.S.’ requirements. He is not distancing himself from Iran. Then America will attack them. Americans do exactly what benefits their country; however, for us it is different. We love power. Otherwise, what else could be the reason the opposition began dancing with joy at the Washington Post's comments?
