Trump Is Getting Burned by the Fire He Ignited in Epstein Case

The problem with conspiracy theories is that they can go on forever. After all, if you assume that an "elite" pulls all the strings and decides what can be covered up, then it logically follows that you can't ever trust documents published by the government to be complete.
Donald Trump liked to tell the story of a manipulative "deep state" during the election campaign. But now Trump is at risk of getting burned by the very fire he ignited. He has not kept his promise to clean up Washington and publish all documents relating to the Jeffrey Epstein case, for example — and even if they were made public, MAGA fanatics won’t be satisfied.
Their conspiracy theory alleges that the well-connected sex offender Epstein possessed videos of powerful men engaging in abusive acts. It is therefore suggested that his death may not have been a suicide, but that he was intentionally eliminated. And they want to see the evidence.
Doubt Sown
The problem, however, is that Trump was apparently Epstein's friend and appears in the documents. It is unclear what he knew about the cases of abuse. But his supporters are not taking Trump's reluctance to publish the results of the investigation well. Perhaps this won’t shake any of his fanatical fans, but it will at least raise doubts. If Trump lied about this, what else did he lie about? The Epstein files will not topple Trump, but they could pose political challenges for him in the future.
