Today, Trump is imploring the people to believe in the system.

Since entering politics, Donald Trump has trafficked extensively in conspiracy games. Obviously, the millions of pro-Trump voters are not all conspiracy theorists; however, it is true that virtually all conspiracy theorists support Trump.

There are obscure conspiracy theories that Trump has encouraged, and others that he has let slide. Satanic pedophiles, corrupt institutions, the pandemic invented by the global elites — a great deal of absurd ideas circulated with the help of social networks, and Trump supporters were not far behind.

Trump even invented his own conspiracy: the stolen 2020 election. Even if testimonials from friends and family confirm he says the opposite in private, publicly he continues to maintain that theory.

Epstein

And then came the Jeffrey Epstein affair. The ultra-wealthy New York businessman who allegedly set up a system for exploiting young girls. The guy who had a lot of prestigious names on his list of clients and special guests to his private island. According to authorities, Epstein took his own life in prison in August 2019. He never divulged anything. The list of names was never released.

In the MAGA movement, there was the conviction that the truth would never emerge under Joe Biden because there were big Democratic names to protect. But now Trump is in the White House while a series of events is reigniting the Epstein saga.

First, a furious Elon Musk maintained that the Epstein files have not been released because the president’s name is in them. A few days later, the Justice Department issued a memo stating that there was nothing in the files.

Simple conclusion: No “secret list” of Epstein’s clients has been found; no evidence of murder or blackmail; the death of Epstein was indeed the result of a suicide in his cell. It was a conclusion so pristine it fueled mistrust and cynicism.

Crisis of Confidence

Then, The Wall Street Journal mentioned a compromising letter that Trump allegedly sent to Epstein for his 50th birthday. Trump desperately denied it and initiated enormous lawsuits against the journal and its owner.

But the problem with all of this is that Trump now finds himself in the camp of those who say, “There is no conspiracy, trust the institutions.” Oops! That is not what his base wants to hear. According to a recent poll, 69% of Americans think the administration is hiding something versus 6% who are confident and say the opposite.

Meanwhile, witnesses linking Epstein and Trump are multiplying. One of Epstein’s ex-girlfriends said this week on CNN that Trump was not just an ordinary friend. She recalls him being Epstein’s best friend and that he talked about Donald constantly.

Trump is promising to release all the Epstein documents, in an attempt to reassure his base. But, for now, he is bogged down, as if caught in his own game. Unless he really does have something to hide.
