Trump Is Rigorously Consistent

In the old days, when light was projected through “negatives” to produce photographs, turning off the lights in darkrooms removed all distractions, allowing photographers to focus solely on the results that emerged on pieces of paper submerged in reagent.

If we take inspiration from this practice by shutting out all the noise, empty words and theatrics surrounding Donald Trump, instead concentrating solely on his actions, it becomes clear that he is rigorously consistent.

Everything he says is noise, a distraction. Turn the volume down to zero. Switch off the lights in the metaphorical darkroom. Concentrate only on what he is doing. Only then is it possible to understand reality: The president, with exceptional discipline, is following a script.

Trump has now been in office for nine months. Every woman who conceived a baby on Jan. 20, the day he was inaugurated, is either currently in labor or has already given birth. Yet Trump has still not fulfilled his simple promise of ending war, instead venturing further down the route of arming.

He is continuing with the same policies he criticized Joe Biden for pursuing.

The day Washington suspends the expansion of NATO and stops sending weapons and money to Ukraine is the day the war in Ukraine will end. Trump talks and talks, but he is still bankrolling the war and trying to increase sanctions on Russia. He is following the same script.

Biden initiated the siege against President Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, as Dominican multinational oil companies were investing in the Essequibo region of Guyana, territory that is disputed by Venezuela. When I warned that these developments could lead to military conflict between the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, I was told I was crazy.

Following the script more directly, but in pursuit of the same old objectives, Trump blockaded the Venezuelan coast. He may even arm a coalition of volunteers for an invasion, in which Dominican personnel may participate to defend the country’s oil investments.

So, who’s better: Trump or Biden?

There are some differences. Biden puts barbecue sauce on his hamburger, creating a flavor as sweet as orange juice. Trump instead adds lots of spicy jalapeños. Yet at the end of the day, both are the same, low-quality junk food.

When we turn the volume down, it is as if we are watching one of Charlie Chaplin's silent films. By carefully following a script, Trump is rigorously consistent.

Trump lleva nueve meses gobernando.
