The United States and the Peace Initiative
It is an established fact, recognized both regionally and internationally — particularly in the Arab and Middle Eastern region — that there is absolutely no doubt that the United States has had the final word in restraining excesses and the reckless conduct of Israel — from the date of its establishment until the present.
Should the United States sincerely and seriously desire to do so, it is capable of putting an end to Israeli intransigence and its insistence on violating the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. And in ending its deviation from the commitment to the end-of-war declaration in accordance with the provisions of the American initiative and what was confirmed at the Sharm el-Sheikh peace summit — where Israel declared its commitment to these provisions.
This established fact was and remains clear to Egypt and to all nations and peoples, both regionally and internationally — before, during and after the summit. It was also clear and confirmed for all European, Arab and Muslim leaders who participated in the summit.
Simultaneously, there was another clear and present reality in the minds and eyes of those leaders: Israel has no desire to cease fire and end the crimes of genocide it has been committing against Palestinians over the past two years, without restraint or deterrent, and without accountability or oversight.
This reality was beyond doubt, as it has been and continues to be publicly declared and confirmed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the rest of the officials in his government of extremism, racism and terrorism.
In light of this declared Israeli position, founded upon these two facts, there was a firm conviction held by Egypt and all the leaders present in Sharm el-Sheikh summit: The United States — particularly President Donald Trump — is singularly capable of effectively influencing and pressing Israel to commit to the ceasefire and halt the war of genocide.
Followers of the developments and events that have occurred and are occurring on the ground recognize the validity of this conviction. This leads all those interested in and monitoring the course of the American peace initiative, as well as developments and updates regarding the compliance and fulfillment of its provisions, to place great hope on the United States' ability to positively influence and urge Israel to implement and commit to the initiative with all faithfulness. So, will this happen?
