Obama Versus Osama

According to Arnold Toynbee, one of the biggest problems in history is that we only know about 10 percent of the events that actually occurred. As if it were an immense iceberg, 90 percent of historical events are mixed up and hidden in the unknown. Another problem is that history is always told by the victors. Maybe this is why I still do not understand what really happened in Osama bin Laden’s chambers that night he was assassinated. I barely understand the seriousness of such a burning hate that consumes others. Right before my eyes are two images: the Twin Towers in flames and, many years later, people at ground zero carrying large signs with the slogan “Osama Rot in Hell.”

I have many doubts about the murder of the terrorist. There is not enough space for me to say it all. The murder is very mysterious: quiet suspects, contradictory statements. I am still not sure exactly how bin Laden died. The first report was that he died from a gunshot wound to the head. How is it possible that with 20 invaders there was only one shot? You, reader, who have seen the images, must have seen a pile of sheets, pillows and clothes on top of the bed but no body. What were they hiding? Blood, in fact a lot of blood, should have been soaking the bed and spilling out on the floor in various places. All of this with just one shot to the head? One would be naïve to believe so. The uncontrollable American hate would not stop with just one shot. This was a moment of vengeance. Many shots rang out. Hundreds. They transformed the body into a deformed mass, saturated in hate — the Twin Towers avenged. This is why the pictures of the body could not be shown. Well then, what is to be done? Wrap everything in plastic and hastily throw the body into the sea in order to hide the truth of such animalistic vengeance.

Another report: When they reached the boat that was waiting for them, they did a DNA exam on bin Laden and confirmed the results with the DNA of a female cousin, but they did not explain how they did it. So they concluded it was him. They had everything, including a small lab, already prepared on the boat. But what kind of “his-story” is this? They killed a person and then confirmed afterward that it was bin Laden? Did they kill in error?

All of this reveals the force behind power. Lord Aton was right: power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I then remembered a statement made by Mussolini, the dictator in Italy during the 1930s: The boss is always right. The soul of power can be political or religious. All of us in one form or another have already become victims of this grip of power. In order to live peaceably without being harassed, it is better for us to quietly stay in our places. I’ve already heard a preacher affirm that obedience is one of the most beautiful virtues. It helps a lot.

Obama versus Osama

O assassinato do terrorista me deixou muitas dúvidas.
