America and the Power of Starvation
Since it emerged as a superpower during World War II and having become militarily, economically and scientifically superior on the global stage, the United States has acted arbitrarily and with prejudice against certain countries around the world, disregarding international laws and norms. By imposing economic sanctions and dictating policies to governments, the United States has furthered its expansionary and colonialist projects.
In fact, it is not governments that are affected by sanctions that the U.S. and its allies are imposing. It is the people of those countries who are targeted and humiliated by these sanctions. This way, the U.S. and its allies can impose a political and economic reality where, under the weight of the economic embargo and the urgent need for food, medicine and other life necessities, they destabilize the social and economic structure of those people. They achieve this through starvation based on false pretexts, the objectives of which have become clear to the whole world. The possession of nuclear weapons or terrorism are the pretexts that represent the U.S. strategy of hostility toward certain countries it classifies as enemies. Therefore, it has consistently based its foreign policy toward these countries on the need to subjugate their governments, starve their people and keep them under American political and economic influence to serve its interests.
At times, the U.S. uses its brutal military force spread across vast regions. The U.S. has a military presence in more than 80 countries around the world in the form of military bases for many reasons. Estimates indicate there are more than 835 U.S. military bases spread across the world's continents. The U.S. uses these bases to extend its hegemony over social resources, threaten the security of countries, and coerce their governments. Consequently, it always ensures that these bases remain deployed i fully combat-ready in each location so that the U.S. can easily impose economic and military restrictions. At other times, it uses starvation, which is no less lethal than military weapons, and in some cases even more cruel. This weapon targets the daily lives of civilians, turning food, water, medicine and other basic necessities into a means of pressure and blackmail.
Gaza has become a stark example of the Zionist-American brutality in deliberately using starvation. What the world is witnessing on a daily basis and around the clock with respect to the genocide of children and women in Gaza is damning evidence of the Zionist-American’s brutal approach toward countries and people who demand their freedom and independence from colonial domination. Furthermore, it represents a living testimony to the how international organizations are being subjugated to the hegemony of the U.S. and Israel and the usurpation of their decision-making power. The mass starvation affecting people of all ages in Gaza, especially children, at the hands of the Zionist occupation forces, with the approval of the U.S. and its Western allies and with the full support of the regional states surrounding Gaza — which have contributed significantly and effectively to doubling the suffering of Gazans — are a stain on the conscience of humanity. We cannot simply describe what is happening in Gaza as a humanitarian disaster; rather, it is a calculated strategy with complex security and political objectives that exceed the boundaries of traditional conflict. It is considered to be a major shift in the nature of the Zionist-Palestinian conflict from a border conflict to an existential conflict. Therefore, humanitarian organizations of all kinds must fulfill their role to firmly stop Israel's plan to bring about demographic changes in Gaza and displace its people by military force.
