Amid Chaos and Anger, Anything Is Possible

Despite President Obama’s announcement that after 2014, the U.S. Army will still remain in Afghanistan, there is no denying the fact that Americans are trying to flee Afghanistan as fast as they can, because for them, a new problem arises with each new day. That America presumably claims itself to be the world’s only strong “universal power” is also why it recognizes itself to be smart and believes it is able to deal with problems in its own way.

Lately, [and] for some time now, America, President Karzai and Taliban leadership have had talks, which periodically make the news. America sometimes confirms this and sometimes denies this, but the New York Times confirmed one report in America. According to this report, a Taliban leader named Mullah Mansoor Akhtar, who has been in discussions with America — and on whom America has been showering dollars (because according to them, every man has a set price) — was not really Mullah Mansoor Akhtar, but actually a trickster intent on fraud, who for so long tolerated America’s pride and jeers, and as soon as he found the opportunity, fled with the dollars. This is that “aware” America, who is determined to operate the whole world on its own terms.

The news about the Taliban has been published for a while now in both local and international press, but the accuracy has always been a challenge. There are two important reasons for this. The first reason is that the world’s intelligence agencies neither possess nor have [they] secured a picture of the Taliban leadership and, in the case of pictures, have somehow been working without them. That is why no one can really say who has talked to which leader. The other important point is that the Taliban leaders have never issued any statements about those talks. They only have one goal: America is occupying Afghanistan, and they want to push the U.S. Army out; the other decisions they will make among themselves.

In the whole world, any person whose religion is Islam and who understands even a little of the philosophy of the Taliban knows that the Taliban would never have talks with America. They will fight with America, whatever the costs are. However, if the Pakistani government plays the role of coordinator, then it is likely that the Taliban would be willing to give America some incentives. Even today, Pakistan, and perhaps Saudi Arabia, are the only two countries that can help free America from this problem that it has created for itself.

If America considers itself to be so smart, then it should realize the fact that it will find fake Mullah Mansoors here, but not real ones.

Americans, like Indians, are gaining the attitude that Pakistan is responsible for any misfortunes that it faces. The most interesting aspect of this story is that in this chaos, America put ISI* into the balance as well. The newspaper says that ISI actually connected this fake Mullah Mansoor with America, and poor, innocent, naïve Americans thought Mullah Mansoor was real and began talks with him. America for the first time has become a failure on the account of ISI, but this has happened many times in the past, so Pakistan is not so surprised.

Now the whole world has sufficient knowledge of the American catastrophe that is growing in Afghanistan, but those aware of American history would also know that in chaos and anger, America has been known to make some incredibly dangerous decisions. The examples of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are enough. Today in Quetta, it is breaking news that the CIA has been given a free hand, and drone attacks are growing as fast as a goat’s kid on the whims of America. If at this stage Pakistan shows any weakness, then it will be synonymous to hitting the last nail on the coffin of its security.

*Editor’s Note: ISI refers to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency.
