Between July 20 and 23 – that is, seven days before participating – competitions in every kind of sport were conducted in stadiums, athletic arenas, pools and indoor halls with the goal of selecting the best champions and sports teams in preparation for participation with high spirits and firm will. All of these competitions were conducted with identical organization, arrangement, close management, precision in judging, preparatory aesthetics and innovation, and production as the Olympic competitions. The selection and determination of the distinguished champions was carried out according to this final, preliminary event. In our viewing of some of the competitions – especially events in gymnastics, swimming, and track and field, as well as in the record breaking and awesome technical performance in most of the sporting events – there is a strong determination on insisting that the U.S. champions will dominate the games and win the majority of the gold medals. We cannot forget, however, that competition will be fierce with China, which won the [overall] title for the first time in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, as well as with Russia.
