Pakistan Taking Its Case against US Drone Attacks to the United Nations

The spokesman for the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that, in light of the recommendations of the recently convened All Parties Conference, Pakistan has started preparations for taking the matter of U.S. drone attacks in its tribal areas to the United Nations.

Pakistan is working to present a well-prepared case against the attacks to the U.N. in order to direct international pressure against U.S. drone strikes. Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon has already expressed his stance regarding drone attacks, and the whole world has also voiced strong protests against these silent deaths. In American courts, too, cases have been filed against drone attacks. If Pakistan also raises this issue in the U.N., it is hoped that Pakistan’s government will have some success in making its case

Although America does carry out full investigations of targets before launching drone attacks, 97 percent of the victims of strikes are innocent people. In response, a series of suicide attacks and bomb explosions have been launched in Pakistan. If the U.S. would share its information with Pakistani intelligence and have them carry out the attacks on targets, such problems would not arise.

Pakistan has now announced that it is taking its case against drone attacks to the world court. It is hoped that this will control drone attacks to a great extent.
