Putin Capable of Anything, the West Capable of Nothing

Putin is capable of anything to rebuild his empire. For saying such words, you could have been accused of Russophobia not so long ago.

Nowadays, all the high and mighty of this world are absolutely aware of that. However, being used to peaceful debates at offices in their own countries, now they are not able to show they are capable of anything to prevent Putin from causing the biggest conflict since the fall of USSR — and maybe a third world war.

It must already be a shock to Obama, Hollande or Merkel to hear Putin using the language of a bygone age while announcing his plan to conquer another country, which borders on four European Union and NATO countries. Just next to their Western civilization, to which the country is aspiring.

Putin justifies his willingness to attack neighboring Ukraine by the necessity to “normalize the social/political situation” in that country, quoting the Russian Constitution at the same time. No one doubts that the threat, even if announced using boring and official language, is absolutely real. Actually, it is already happening.

On the Kremlin’s website, where the reasons for the planned attack on Ukraine are published, there is current information about Putin’s phone conversations with Obama, Hollande and the secretary general of the U.N. It turns out that Putin did not like the new Ukrainian authorities, provocations and ultra-nationalist criminal activities, and therefore decided to deal with them.

It does not appear that he heard from his interlocutors, including the leader of the world power, that the punishment for actions such as intervening in another country’s business and breaking the international law impudently will be very severe—the most severe for Russia since the fall of the USSR.

Putin should hear about imposing all the possible sanctions that the West has imposed on all treacherous countries of this world in recent years put together. Starting with the freeze on accounts of important politicians and oligarchs directly connected to leadership and visa blacklists, ending with the exclusion from prestigious international organizations and the boycott of crucial events planned by Moscow. Russia led by Putin causing wars should suffer the same fate as North Korea led by Kim. But it will not.

The West postpones decisions on sanctions, even the small ones. It is splitting hairs, confirming the Kremlin’s conviction that rebuilding the empire can be achieved by any means, no matter what, how or when.

What else does Putin need to do, in what country does he need to plan to “normalize the social/political situation,” in order to awaken Obama and his friends? To embarrass the West, he simply does not need to do anything else.
