Obama Will Not Change USA

“Change” has been a symbol of Obama’s entire campaign. Upon winning the election he, along with his wife and children, went on the stage announcing first of all with excitement that, “ We changed the United States!”

Obama elected as a black president only shows that the minority enjoys more equality; however, Obama himself is a genuine American politicians and he is not much different from other members in the Congress. For anyone who thinks that Obama will change the United States, he may be very disappointed.

The warmongering nature of the United States will not change. Obama’s so-called withdrawing Iraqi troops merely serves to help the United States to get out of the quagmire, or even just a campaign tool against the Republican, just as President Eisenhower did in North Korea, or President Nixon did in Vietnam. Do not forget that while Obama advocates withdrawing troops from Iraq, he, in the meantime, advocates sending to Afghanistan two additional combat brigades and he made several proposals on the “Afghan solution.”

The United States’ intention of interfering in the world will not change. The involvement in the Kashmir issue in South Asia is one of Obama’s campaign principles with the purpose of “allowing Pakistan to focus on counter-terrorism.” Americans still can find a reason to reach out everywhere, and even if there is no reason, they can make one, regardless of how other people think. Bush and Obama, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are the same in thinking that America should supervise the whole world.

The self-centered nature of the United States has not changed. Facing an economic crisis that has affected the whole world, the United States should have done some self-examination and should have put an end to all its acts of unilateralism in the field of economic activities. Nevertheless Obama has suggested that the United States should tax the outsourcing of business in order to create more working opportunity at home. It is clear that he thought the impact of imported products is the cause of U.S. problems and other countries should bear the consequences of the decline of the U.S. economy.

The Democratic Party traditionally emphasizes democracy and human rights. The United States has been acting in the name of democracy as the world policeman and this will not change after Obama comes to power. Obama is essentially an American elite and he does not represent the interest of the ethnic minorities, the vulnerable groups; and he does not care much about the racial problems in the general election. Like other president he will hold the same view that the United States is the world’s perfect nation and it has the right to accuse anyone.

By taking advantage of the opportunities in the two world wars, the United States has developed itself into a powerful country. This crazy country for many years has brought the shadow of war around the world: promotion of the post-cold war that had created new tensions. Today it is so irresponsible as to shift the country’s economic crisis to other countries. Obama’s thinking and his guiding campaign principles show that after this black president comes to power, the United States will not change at all.

To seek peaceful coexistence around the world and in the pursuit of the well-being of mankind, we can not place hope to an individual leader or one nation. The world needs to work together with universal values under a multi-polar world system, rather than an unilateral policy that needs to be constrained.
