The president of the National Assembly, Cilia Flores, said that President Barack Obama’s government has turned out to be “worse” than that of his predecessor, George W. Bush.
Flores said yesterday that Obama had dared to do what the Republican ex-President never did, namely installing military bases in Colombia to “attack Venezuela.”
“When we thought it could not get any worse [than Bush],” Flores added, Obama, who “initially looked like a Hollywood hero,” appears.
The deputy made these statements at the end of the session of parliament in which she was re-elected by the pro-government majority as president of the N.A. for 2010.
President Hugo Chavez considers the military treaty signed last year between the United States and Colombia to be a “threat to the revolution.” This treaty permits U.S. troops to use at least seven bases in Colombia.
According to Chavez, the “empire” has plans to “attack” Venezuela, using Colombia as a “platform” along with the islands of Aruba and Curacao, an assertion that all of these countries have denied.
Washington, the Colombian authorities, and the governments of the Caribbean Islands which are possessions of Holland have asserted that the U.S. forces in those countries are acting purely within the framework of applicable anti-drug accords.
