Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has prepared a secret report about Obama, which alleges that the Obama administration has taken a stance that is closer to meeting the Palestinians’ demands than those of Israel.
The secret report was distributed to diplomatic representatives of the country and intended for internal use by the government only. It refers to the preparation of the peace talks between Israel and Palestine.
According to Haaretz Daily Newspaper, the Center for Political Research of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs distributed a report claiming that the latest statements from the American delegation signal that the U.S. and Palestine have similar demands and expectations for the peace talk.
The report states that the Americans are trying to refrain from making statements that may hurt both sides and have acknowledged the difficult situation that Israeli President Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas are facing. Peace is not Obama’s first priority.
Instead of focusing on the upcoming peace talks, Obama’s administration is turning its attention towards the upcoming congressional elections in November. The Arab Peace Initiative Committee meeting in Cairo concluded that Israel and Palestine have four months to commence peace talks. In the meantime, White House Middle East peace envoy George Mitchell will hold meetings with both sides.
The Palestine Liberation Organization will meet today to analyze the latest situation and prepare for the upcoming peace talks between Palestine and Israel.
