The President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko said that the United States increased the degree of tension in Europe when it decided to deploy elements of missile defense in Poland and the Czech Republic. He made this statement at a meeting of the Security Council of the Republic. The Head of State is certain, The balance of power in Europe is disturbed, and its through no fault of our own.
He stressed that the main factor of instability in Europe is the U.S., which withdrew from the ABM Treaty. Interfax quotes the Belarusian President as saying, Our neighbor Russia considers these actions unfounded, and regards them as a direct threat to its security.
Lukashenko added that the expansion of NATO eastward has become a negative trend. The Belarusian leader said, The heart of the matter is not sweet words by western generals and politicians, that allegedly, the alliance doesnt threaten anyone. Facts are such that the military infrastructure of NATO was solidly strengthened near the Belarus border, the bases of the American troops are moving into Eastern European countries, and the offensive potential of the block is increasing.
Of course, now the government is rushing to rescue banks, large companies, and investors. But the strategic goals and doctrines will not be subject to a revision, and the attempt to impose a unipolar world will continue, asserted Lukashenko.
He also said that at present time, it is necessary to change the architecture of both global and European security.
