Bush Confesses: Iraq Waris the Reason Behind Republican Losses in 2008

U.S. President George Bush confessed that the Iraq war is the reason behind Republican losses in the 2008 elections. He also said he refused requests from some Republicans to rescue the party from this political crisis by withdrawing from Iraq, especially in these difficult times.
"During the darkest days of Iraq, people came to me and said, 'You're creating incredible political difficulties for us,'" Bush said in an interview in Fox News, accompanied by his father, former President George Herbert Walker Bush. "And I said, 'Oh, really? What do you suggest I do?' And some suggested retreat, pull out of Iraq. “
"But I had faith that freedom exists in people's souls and therefore, if given a chance, democracy and Iraqi-style democracy could survive and work," he continued. "I didn't compromise that principle for the sake of trying to, you know, bail out my political party."
Bush "the father" added that he considers his son the most Presidents to face ordeals saying, “ he's been tested unlike any other president with 9/11. So he passed the test.”
The current president expressed his admiration towards his presidential terms and said that he is proud of himself and of his achievements in the past eight years.
Bush confessed that Iraqi war is the reason behind Republicans losses in 2008 elections and he declared that recovering the party reputation is difficult if it opposed immigrants.
He emphasized that the party must keep opposing taxes and should support the army.
"We shouldn't change our philosophy," Bush said. "We may want to change our messaging. We definitely want to change messengers. We need a new group of leaders."
He also expressed his admiration towards CIA despite it leaked classified information, he said, "You can't stop leaks. And you don't know how many people were leaking, but I can assure you, the vast majority of people in the CIA were very cooperative."
As for the entities Obama choose to his posts, Bush said that he was impressed and he admired Obama’s firmness in his choices, he said "Obama chose ability and qualification".
But he seemed reluctant to comment about choosing Leon Panetta to lead CIA, he said, “I don't feel comfortable in giving any comment for this choice, I only advise that CIA gather brilliant specialists willing to serve the United States of America.”
