Obama and the Nobel Prize

After nine months of holding the reigns as the U.S. president, Obama obtained the Nobel Peace Prize as a reward for his thoughts on coexistence, his success in encouraging diplomacy among peoples, his extraordinary efforts to achieve peace, his determination to limit the spread of nuclear weapons worldwide and the promises he made, which gave hope to the world for a better future in the presence of a man with all these characteristics as the head of the American administration. The previous administration used to look at the world with haughtiness and snobbery as it followed a strict policy that it imposed on the people of the world by force.
Today we see that Obama doesn’t hesitate to help his enemies, despite being the president of the most powerful country in the world. This man has registered a courageous attitude and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the theories he advocates and intends to apply in the future. Moreover, being awarded this prize obliges him to apply these things; he must realize these intentions and promises before deserving the prize, which will place a heavy burden on Obama in all instances, including the Iranian, Afghan, Palestinian and Iraqi situations.
Furthermore, it will present challenges that must be overcome in order to affirm that he deserves the prize. Of course, simply being awarded this prize will allow him to feel the glory associated with it and will motivate him to continue incorporating his thoughts on coexistence in his policies. Everybody hopes he will eventually eradicate the main causes of tension in the world and approximate differing points of view.
As we await the good this man will do, we hope the Arab figures offer, for their people and for the world, work that demonstrates that they deserve to receive prizes as well, instead of the curses that arrived with some of the dictatorial governments in the region decades ago. While we see Obama helping his enemies, we also see that the leaders of many Arab countries are killing their citizens with various weapons. The people can’t live with them, nor with their ideas.
We must note that the idea of coexistence, as expounded by Obama, comes from Islamic morals and characteristics. However, we see that Islamic parties don’t acknowledge this coexistence yet; they demand expiation from other religions while killing people of their own religion simply because of ideological differences. These practices, seen and supported by foreign parties, spread the sectarian dissension between varying constituents of the Iraqi people.
Nevertheless, we noticed the appearance of great figures in Iraq calling for coexistence, reconciliation and the approximation of opposing ideas. Such intentions helped to surmount many ordeals, including sectarian dissension in Iraq after the fall of the regime and the difficult periods that followed. Thanks to men like Obama, Iraq overcame those difficult times and is on its way to freedom and democracy. History will grant such men the biggest awards.
