Obama Less and Less Popular, but Who Else if Not Him?
Two new polls confirm: Barack Obama is not America’s favorite anymore. But, it doesn’t mean he will lose the election.
More and more Americans want change in the White House after next year’s elections. But they are not happy with the Republican candidates.
According to the Washington Post and ABC News polls, only 43 percent of American citizens approve of the President’s performance, while 53 percent disapprove. It’s Obama’s worst result in the polls run by the media on a regular basis. Sixty-two percent criticize Obama’s economic policy, and 60 percent of the public are against his budget deficit reduction policy. But still the majority (62 percent) is in favor of his terror fighting policy.
The respondents to the Wall Street Journal and NBC News polls had a similar opinion. Forty-four percent of Americans are happy about the President, and 51 percent remain unhappy. In the same poll, 73 percent of respondents declared that the United States is going in the wrong direction. This is the highest pessimism rate since 2008, when the financial crisis started and deepened the recession. Forty-four percent of voters say they are rather going to vote for the Republican candidate next year. Only 40 percent intends to vote for Obama. The rest remain undecided.
But according to the Wall Street Journal and NBC News polls, Obama would win the election if it took place now: 47 to 42 percent against the most popular GOP nominee candidate, Rick Perry.
Mitt Romney would have more of chance against Obama, and he was considered the Republicans’ favorite in the elections: 46 to 45 percent for Obama could mean anything, as it still falls within the margin of error.
