America, the Predatory State?

Europe should not stay silent if Trump continues to put pressure on Greenland. Otherwise, his behavior will serve as a model for certain people elsewhere in the world.
The idea of acquiring Greenland had already been floated during Donald Trump’s first term as president. It is said that a billionaire friend from New York City gave him the idea. The topic was buried at some point, like so much during Trump’s first four years in the White House.
Two things stand out during this second run. On the one hand, Trump’s annexation ideas don’t seem as freakish; logical reasons are offered, such as security concerns or historical connections and the United States’ expansionist politics during the 19th century.
Targeted Pinpricks
On the other, Trump is applying more pressure on the issue, like sending the wife of the vice president and members of the administration to Greenland. They are targeted pinpricks to weaken the Greenlanders and Danes.
Opposition is not in vain, however; Europe, too, should not stay silent on the issue. After all, not only Greenland is at stake here, even if the Arctic region is a big geopolitical chunk.
If Trump turns the United States into a predatory state that doesn’t hold back even when it comes to the territory of its allies, then certain others in the world will also try to follow his lead. It is precisely for this reason that the details are so important in Ukraine. A cease-fire alone would be different from international recognition of Russia’s territorial claims.
