An Interview with Pirouz Mojtahedzadeh:
In the American Elections, Lobbycracy Has Superseded Democracy
London Dr. Pirouz Mojtahedzadeh, a university professor and chairman of the London’s Urosevic Research Foundation, believes that in Americas political process, and especially in its electoral processes, the lobbyocracy has superseded democracy.
In London, during an interview given to the Islamic Republic News Agency on the topic of the American presidential election, he said: The electoral and democratic process of America is one of the most defective and most problem-filled electoral and democratic processes in the world.
Dr. Mojtahedzadeh mentioned two fundamental problems in particular: the penetration of influential lobbies in the elections for elevated political offices and their significant impact on America’s strategic decision-making process, and the complicated, primitive multi-stage system of the American presidential elections.
He added, The extent of the role of lobbies in the American elections has become so profound, widespread and detrimental such that observers like me have hastened to put into use a democratic phrase with respect to the political and governmental construct of the United States. I use the expression ‘lobbyocracy.'”
The state of the political and electoral process in America has been destroyed to a point where only a tinge of the smell of democracy reaches the nose and we are more likely to witness the rush and invasion of influential lobbies and interest groups in this sector.
The professor of geopolitics explained, Traditionally in America, Jewish lobbies, especially in Washingtons foreign policy making process, had and still have the first word. Big tobacco companies, car manufacturers, oil, energy and munitions lobbies along with other interest groups, play an important role in the election of the American president and in the making of important American policies.
The reason for the power of the Jewish lobby is their monopolies on all of the resources of power in America, among them are resources of material wealth, resources of information, security, and all media advertising, resources of film-making industries and Hollywood.
These are powerful resources, which without consent and support, the American government cannot bring to fruit any one of its own programs, hence the compliance of the president and government of the United States, which will be Democratic, and the command of the Jewish lobbies, which the Republicans have established and accepted.
The university professor said, In addition to the Jewish lobbies, another lobby that is coming to head, which might penetrate and control some of the power of the Jewish lobby, is the Christian Zionism lobby.
“Today we are witnesses to it–extravagant right-wing Christian churches have chosen the title of Christian Zionism for themselves and are the biggest defenders and supporters of the Bush government and the group of American neoconservatives.
In explaining the policies of the truly extreme neoconservatives where, in the political arena and the economic arena, the sound of chipping bone reaches the ears at the world level, this fanatical Christian lobby also continues its own extreme standards.
Dr. Mojtahedzadeh alluded to the remarks of one of the right-wing pastorsriests in America, suggesting that Americans would never vote for Barack Hussein Obama. He said, It is because of the high levels of racism in the 21st century that extreme neoconservatives seek to continue their power.
He acknowledged another problem with democracy in America: the complicated and antiquated electoral system that weakens the role of the people in elections, especially the presidential election, saying, This type of election, with the logistical barrier of having several stages and use of the electoral college, restrains the viewpoint of the real majority.
In the first stage of the American presidential election, the two major parties have elections for the country until a representative goes to American voters in the Electoral College, or council of election makers, where they announce an opinion, understanding that they enter this council with an unequal arrangement.
Its possible that one person will enter this council with 200 votes and another with 800 votes, but their vote in the council is also with equality. In the second stage, members of this presidential election council make the procedure when these people have the power to change the value of the arrangement in any way their heart wants.
So this process of members of the Electoral College demolishes all the de facto roots of democracy. For example: Eight years ago in Florida, the nominee possessing the majority of votes was not elected and George Bush, who did not have the authority of the majority of votes and was in the minority, was elected through the judgment of the Supreme Court in an action that was completely undemocratic.
All of the many people at different points in the world dont have a role in the election of the American president, but they have the right to express an opinion on this subject. Because unfortunately, the president in America comes to the helm of power and justifies to himself that he decides the fate of the entire world and imports the biggest injury and damage to democratic ideas throughout the world.
Dr. Mojtahedzadeh alluded to the subject of this undemocratic process dominating the decisions of the United Nations and the Security Council of the United Nations, saying, America, with complete bullheadedness, imposes its own policies in the United Nations which is in reality an international organization. Then the U.S. limits the acts of others, becoming a dictatorship within the body and opposing democratic thoughts. Therefore with terms of activity amongst people of other countries around the world, we also have the right to protest and comment.
At another point in this discussion the chairman of the London Urosevic Research Foundation had said: The next American elections will end in special and unprecedented terms. These elections celebrate precisely in a time of the announcement of break of all world leaders from American neoconservatives on the basis of a new world order; the Greater Middle East and fighting terrorism and also the severe plunge of neoconservative economic structure and market economy.
These special terms naturally will also now place limits on the effects of the policy passed and minute program of the next president of the United States.
The importance is not which of the candidates, Democrat or Republican, is victorious in the elections because any difference in Americas current policies will not come to pass. Each of the two potential presidents in the elections will face a difficult victory and will be bound hand and foot, because today George Bush has drawn out a chase to complete destruction.
In the best terms and most optimistic attitude, if Obama, with his motto of Change, is victorious in the elections, in my opinion this will merely become his time as America will probably fall political and economically in the world.
I dont think Obama will have the least chance to act on his so-called new ideas for the creation of change and promotion of the political and economic situation in the world.
Along these lines, this university professor has said: But the victory of John McCain would make the status of America worse and would seem to intensify the political and economic fall because in debates, McCain, despite his own advertising, has also run with the bankrupt policies of economic and political neoconservatives.
Therefore, in my opinion the future of the United States in the world arena will remain at a gloomy and tarnished balance and the next president of America must exert the most effort to prevent the fall of America since it is a country that has been counted with little difference in relation to other so-called superpower countries.
The danger is high for the United States to fall to the status of a second-degree power in the world and its own officials have also felt this danger.
