Obama: Reality or Fantasy

This is a general prediction that Barak Obama will be the winner of the U.S. presidential elections. There are many reasons for this: the Iraq war, the general decline in U.S. good will and the economic crisis. But there is another reason, which is very significant, that after the year 2000, young American voters, a majority of them liberal, have been very active. This is why Obama is their favorite.

It is an interesting allegation from Republicans that Obama is liberal. For us, Pakistanis, this allegation is strange because we see America as a flag bearer of liberalism. But many of us do not understand that much about American liberalism, which is limited to what is portrayed in Hollywood movies. America’s establishment, its generals, and its rural populations are strictly religious and fundamentalist. But, for Americans, being religious does not necessarily mean practicing. American religiosity is more about beliefs rather than practice. Few issues which we can never discuss here, in Pakistan, cause clashed between religiosity and liberalism–allowing abortion, the moral and legal status of un-married couples, same-sex marriages etc. It must be surprising to you that, in the U.S., the Bible is the most sold and read book and priests are highly regarded.

It shouldn’t be overlooked that religion is a major and overwhelming part of American society. The majority of youth are with Obama, despite the fact that McCain’s win can’t be ruled out. It is worth mentioning that a healthy majority of Americans are white and they are commonly known as WASPs (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants). WASPs are regarded as the most racist race in the world as they do not see second rate whites (Latin Americans) as humans. For them, anyone other than whites are hated and blacks are not even worthy of hate.

Protestantism adds fuel to this fire. One says those whites do not indulge in racism, but only the Catholic and Orthodox whites do. On the whole, overwhelming, Christians are Roman Catholic. The American Protestant establishment never tolerates them. Kennedy was murdered, because he was a Catholic. If Obama wins, like Kennedy, the establishment will not tolerate him. He is not only black, but is also a grandchild of a Muslim. The American establishment will not tolerate a black and a half-Muslim as President.

A common thought here, in Pakistan, is that whether the winner is Obama or McCain, both will adopt the same strategy towards us. But the reality is different. Republican America always likes adventures outside its borders, while Democratic America reverses this instinct. However, this is another topic. For me, neither Obama or McCain, can save America from its coming harsh days. If McCain wins, U.S. adventurism will increase, which will result in America’s economic decline, its global status will come down and American society will also suffer. If Obama becomes president there will be two scenarios: he will complete his term, the U.S. will leave Iraq and won’t stay for long in Afghanistan. He will reform the U.S. economy with an injection of socialism, which the U.S. will react to.  The second scenario could be that he will be murdered. In this case, the sense of alienation will explode and this modern Roman state’s journey to fall will accelerate.

The USSR broke up into 18 pieces because she was a union of 18 states, America will not break in parts like this–despite all contradictions, it is a country. In all its 50 states whites are in the majority, so a state cannot break up on the ground of race. But America has other contradictions. If you give everything to the hands of the Republican Protestant, they will bring the age of slavery back. Democrats have a slogan that “every being is a progeny of God.” Blacks look to whites as their masters. In the U.S., Roman Catholics are on the rise. The Muslim population also can’t be overlooked.

Our future is bleak. As a nation we should enjoy imagining the scene that will appear in America after elections. Because America is the sole reason for our dark present and future.

I lived in the U.S. from 1981 to 88 and saw with my own eyes and heard with my ears that white Americans hate blacks and now they regard Muslims as barbers and worthy to be killed.

For me, a black’s march to the White House is unimaginable.  How is it going to be stopped? It could be in any way…is Obama is a reality or fantasy? God knows.
