The Venezuelan President on the Iraqi Shoe Throwing

Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan president, accused U.S. President George Bush of arranging genocide in Iraq and that the action of the Iraqi journalist Muntathar Al Zaidi, by throwing his shoe at Bush, is a defense action to the dignity of Iraqi people.

Chavez added during a press conference for the countries at the Latin America convention in the Brazilian city of Costa do Sauipe, “it’s inappropriate to throw a shoe at someone but in Al Zaidi’s case; he reacted in the name of all the people and not as a personal reaction.”

Chavez is leading the left wing movement consisting of presidents and parties in South America against Washington. He reminded people that Bush is throwing bombs and death at the Iraqi people and this has more importance than throwing a shoe.

Saying “many were killed; the US President must be trialed in an international court and convicted with genocide”.

Ending his speech “I salute the Iraqi people and we can translate this incident as the efforts of the Iraqi people to act in defense their dignity”
