A Unique and Impressive Way to Protest

An Iraqi journalist, Mr. Muntazir al-Zaidi, demonstrated a unique and impressive way to protest by throwing shoes at the American president George Bush. People are not only applauding his daring act, but are also now protesting in support of his release. Encouraged by his actions, American anti-war activists have started their own protests in front of the White House with bags of shoes.

The daughter of Col. Kaddafi of Libya has announced she will give a valuable reward to him as a token of appreciation. The popular president of Venezuela, Hugo Rafael Chavez, has announced an exclusive award for al-Zaidi while applauding his daring act.

After being narrowly missed by the shoe, Bush, in order to conceal his humiliation, said that he was not distressed by the action, since democracy is what allowed al-Zaidi’s freedom to protest.

Other journalists present on the occasion said that the shoe was brand new, and if had hit Bush in the face, it would have caused serious injuries and drawn blood. If that had happened, Bush would have known the consequences of unjustified bloodshed.

Al-Zaidi has now turned into a global personification of the protest against American policies. The shoe incident also tells the American president-elect Barack Obama that if he continues the inhumane Bush policies, he may encounter similar or even more humiliating types of protests.

Right now, Muntazir al-Zaidi is in the custody of the Iraqi authorities, and secret agencies have severely tortured him. In contrast, the whole Arab nation has unanimously declared him their hero. If Maliki does not stop the torture and release al-Zaidi, it is likely that protests will erupt against his government.

It is very obvious that Iraq is once again emerging as the hub of anti-American forces and that when American and its allied NATO forces pull out of Iraq, the Iraqi government will eventually collapse. The blood of innocent people who died at America’s hands is now protesting against America’s brutalities. Massive protests from all over the world have started and everyone is protesting the casualties.

For the last four decades America has based its political, economic and military control on its economic strength and military power. It crushes every voice raised against the U.S. and its policies. Using this power, America has overthrown every government which goes against its policies.

Let’s observe; what happened with Saddam Hussein? While Saddam Hussein supported American policies in the Middle East, he was a good friend. However, once he started to denounce American policies, he was its enemy and became a lesson on the consequences of inciting American wrath by denouncing its policies. The same thing happened with the Iranian king and the president of the Philippines also suffered the same fate.

In Latin America, very few governments have dared to denounce American policies and those that did became the victims of American conspiracies. Despite having the support of their public, the statesmen who spoke out lost their powers. America spent 70 billion dollars to break the USSR. America also played an important role in separating Eastern Pakistan (Bangladesh) from Pakistan. India’s daring attack on Pakistan came about because of America. It was American support that encouraged India to assault Pakistani interests in Eastern Pakistan (Bangladesh).

As a result of supporting American policies, Pakistan has turned into a country in which her citizens do not have rest or peace, and they live in very chaotic conditions. They face the threat of being deprived of their freedom from all sides. India has become the main source of the fulfillment of American desires and wishes in the region, and is now looking to further divide Pakistan.

From the Baluchistan to the FATA, Indian mercenaries are spreading terrorism and causing destruction in Pakistan. They are creating a situation which will clear the path for an Indian attack and provide support for an Indian assault of Pakistan. These foreign agents residing in Pakistan need al-Zaidi’s shoes thrown at them, so that they will be ashamed to be friends and comrades of the people holding onto the colonial mindset, and will stop being the cause of these assaults which result in the death of millions of people. Al-Zaidi’s shoes are a warning to everyone with this type of colonial mindset, telling them to stop killing innocent people.
