After the American Report, Will There be an Iraqi Report?

The special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction detailed, in a report prepared by Stuart Bowen, the fraud, waste, and abuse which came about as a result of blind and disorganized planning.

The report describes in detail the reasons for this squander, which occurred from April 9th, 2003 to the present, and has reached 51 billion dollars, after it was originally assigned two billion dollars and six months. For this reason and in light of this report, a high-level American committee was formed to investigate some of the content of this report and identify the reason for the negligence and failure. It turns out that poor planning and oversight, not greed, were the factors that led to the failure of efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. With respect to the American side, an investigation has started looking into the waste of funds, and it is well known that this most recent report comes after previous reports issued at various other times.

As for Iraq itself, when will a similar report be issued to draw attention to the aspects of shortcoming in repairing the infrastructure and rebuilding the country after the events of 2003? When will there be a review of the official announcements made by officials in Iraq and the numbers that were announced for the many projects, which came to represent fantastic sums of money throughout the breadth and length of Iraq? If even a portion of them were realized, Iraq would be an oasis of employment and investment, both of which are missing in reality. Proof of this is that the Iraqi citizen still complains of the poor state of available basic services and most of the electoral campaigns in provincial elections concentrate on this fact. Who is responsible for negligence and failure? The Council of Representatives must perform its oversight role and expose the points of failure in the rebuilding of the country by forming committees for this purpose. Such committees should refrain from flattery in carrying out its duties and politicizing matters as has often been the case. There is a need to form committees of integrity and offices of inspectors general in the ministries to carry out their duties. They should utilize various specialized experts to prepare reports in all fields, just like the American report. Those who shortchanged should be held accountable, whatever their position, and responsibility must be set, either by the provincial councils or the federal government, in service of the general welfare.

  1. you iraqis still dont get it.

this was not about freeing you from a dictator.

    this was about oil reserves.

without a huge oil reserve america is toast.

please note how many military bases will be in iraq after we “pull out”.

you are now part of the colony of the united states of america.

please take a trip to america and see how many americans care that over 100 thousand iraqis have died since this illegal invasion begin.

no other country will say these things as i do as they want to sell us stuff or take our handouts.

bush should be charged with war crimes and europe wont touch it. ie $$$$$$$$$ americans are the best consumers in the world for world products.

these statements are not due to my hate of america but due to sadness that such a great country decided after world war II to engage in imperialism.

now most americans dont have a clue they are imperialists. massive propaganda has worked wonders on the american mentality like it did in germany in the 30’s.

with over 700 military bases around the world americans think those bases are for their freedom.

while in america take a trip to our southern states, there the lower and some of the middle class actually raise thier children to fight in these wars for profits and then call them heros for doing so.

if americans want to know what is happening in iraq google winter soldiers. the mass media will not let them present to congress and congress is part of this industrial military complex. ie$$$$$ for reelection.
