Undoubtedly, the Academy Awards, or Oscars, are nothing but liberal political awards, particularly in its racist notion. The lion’s share of the awards this year went to “The Hurt Locker,” a film that details the travails of three American occupation soldiers in Iraq and their “heroic” suffering, while forgetting the occupied country, the sufferings of its people and the death that was brought by the occupation, which is still going on to this day.
Five Oscar awards went to “The Hurt Locker”; five awards to the occupation and the suffering of its soldiers. “Avatar” was only awarded three statues for its visual effects, because it is simply a movie about resistance, the discourse of anti-occupation and the arrogance of the U.S. Military. It is an anti-occupation movie that shows bulldozers uprooting people from their land to facilitate control and the exploitation of natural resources.
Personally, after seeing “Avatar,” I expected that it would not win any Academy Awards, especially after I read (I don’t remember from which source) that Israel did not like the movie and objected to it publicly and behind the scenes!
It is hard to compare “Avatar” and “The Hurt Locker,” as the latter failed at the box office. Its income did not reach more than $16 million dollars, while “Avatar” pulled in more than $2.5 billion so far.
While “The Hurt Locker” follows three occupation soldiers, “Avatar” tells a story of a whole nation defending its territory against the occupiers. Therefore, the film must be punished even though it won awards for visual effects only. At this point, I remember the “Lord of the Rings,” which was controlled and produced by ugly racist ideas.
That film won nine Academy Awards and the talk about its visual effects has recently neared sanctification, because the movie used it to favor the racist idea, which viewed the South as nothing but a place filled with evil and monstrosities. As you may recall, the film detailed the conflict between the North and the South, between the “axis of good” against the “axis of evil,” an idea expressed clearly by President George W. Bush in his war against Iraq and the occupation, which lies thousands of miles away from the United States. It’s all about controlling oil wells.
Finally, we will not believe in the integrity of the Oscar choices anymore, as they are racist, anti-resistant and against oppressed peoples. These choices are nothing but political and racist propaganda and have nothing to do with art and its creativity.
As for “Avatar,” the people’s love and admiration for it is enough. This is its greatest award that will never bestowed on the occupation film “The Hurt Locker.”
