Why Did President Obama Lose?

Republicans won the American midterm elections. According to the unconfirmed midterm election results, Republicans won 239 seats, and Democrats won 183 seats in the House of Representatives. In the Senate, Democrats now have 51 seats, and Republicans have 46.

So why did President Obama’s Democratic Party lose the midterm elections? Let us point out right away that the rich did not like Obama’s policies.

The health care reform that increases health care benefits for the lower-income groups did not please the well-to-do. This is because in order to be able to pay for the lower-income families’ health care in accordance with the reform, Obama increased taxes on those who make more than $250,000 a year, and on corporations. In order to prevent crises, he tried to bring tighter regulations to the financial sector. He designed an environmentally friendly economic policy. Of course, this did not appeal to the wealthy. Using money to create powerful lobbies, they spread to the public that President Obama is an anarchist with Muslim values and constantly emphasized his middle name, Hussein.

The most important duty of the tea party movement was to weaken Obama with such maligning, and they succeeded in doing this in the midterm elections.

As for whom Obama irks the most … Arms dealers and speculators were the ones who were most irked by Obama’s peaceful tone, because environmentally friendly and anti-war policies did not benefit arms dealers. Obama’s inclination for peace did not strain global markets, and financial speculators did not like that.

So why are arms dealers so against it?

Were U.S. companies so irked by Obama because weapons sales decreased? Or are they applying so much pressure because they foresee that weapons expenses will decrease?

The U.S.’ annual weapons sales are around $230 billion. This amount is about 60 percent of global weapons sales, which is $384 billion. The U.S.’ entire defense expenses total around $663 billion. A peaceful president who must decrease military expenses, who invests in health, education and the environment in order to implement his policies, and who stays in power irks weapons dealers. This is why Obama lost the midterm elections.

By looking at the midterm election results, one might wonder whether Obama will change his policies.

U.S. arms sales have increased in the last few days. Weapons-sales deals worth $123 billion were made with the Gulf and $11 billion with India. It is apparent that Obama does not seem to be able to keep the promises he made when he was being elected. In short, the Americans stand facing war again, not peace. This is bad news for the world…
