Why Does the Left Oppose Glenn Beck?

The Peace Now people and the like are acting with amazing determination against one of the Israel’s best friends. What eats them is the fact that the lies they spread around do not touch him.

The agitprop recently launched against American radio host Glenn Beck is not accidental. Beck represents the exact opposite of the values, world outlook and culture of the left wing in Israel and all over the globe. At an hour in which a post-modern worldview rules in academia and moral relativism has become a new religion, Beck expresses a clear discernment between good and bad, right and wrong, truth and falsehood.

While public discourse is dominated by hypocritical slogans of “human rights” (from gobstopper thugs who side with the tyrants and mass murderers), Beck speaks from the other side of the equation on the issues of responsibility and the duties of the individual toward others — his country, his people, his Western culture and his obligation to safeguard its values.

While the left rots with skepticism, self-hatred and guilty feelings, Beck evokes a sense of pride in the achievements of the West, the United States and the Zionist movement as well. During a time in which the left has become addicted to Arab propaganda, Glenn Beck holds a dichotomous world view: Radical Islam promotes evil and seeks to destroy the West; therefore, it should be fought and defeated. Israel stands for good, democracy and human rights. Thus, it should be bolstered.

From the vantage point of ultra-Orthodox Jews as well as leftist clergy, Beck’s views constitute a sort of heresy. For some, it is a pain that he believes in Jesus, whereas for others — that he advocates for Israel. No wonder they resort to familiar leftist techniques: demagoguery, reckless promulgation and biased video editing that distorts his image. This is what the knights of democracy do: Anyone who does not line up gets slandered and defamed.

One who loves is an enemy and the hater is the loving one

There is legitimate criticism of Glenn Beck. I too disagree with much of the nonsense he has issued time and again over thousands of hours of broadcasting. Beck himself is likely to regret some portion of his statements. But in order to determine our attitude toward Beck, we must examine his worldview and activities as a whole.

I encourage you all to forgo the mediation gaps and turn directly to YouTube. I doubt that you will find a more eloquent speaker to present the morality of the Israel Defense Forces and the inhumanity of the radical Islam.

But as usual among the Israeli left, everything is backwards. Someone who loves is an enemy and the hater is the loving one. Those same prominent pluralists that are always “attentive” to the fellow, suddenly panic at Beck’s talking with God? What is the matter, hypocrites? You do know how to hug Barghouti, but you are afraid of Glenn Beck? You who flattered the serial killer Arafat, dare to slander one of our greatest friends? You who turn the blind eye on the wild anti-Semitic incitement of Abu-Mazen, the Palestinian media and educational system, you who ingratiate with the master slaughterers and take them as partners in peace, you preach morals to Glenn Beck? If only you could hold a candle to him.

While you receive huge salaries in order to instigate against Israel, call for a boycott and pursue our soldiers throughout the world, Glenn Beck protects us from the anti-Israeli provocation. From you.

The left cares for Beck’s religious faith about as much as as they care for a garlic peeling.

Yesterday, Beck gave a speech in Jerusalem and said that, in Israel, you see more courage in one square mile than in the whole of Europe. Meanwhile, the Peace Now hooligans were demonstrating nearby. With democracy rising in their throats and a megaphone in their hands, they sought to hush the mouths of the thousands of lovers of Israel worldwide. It bothers them that there are several tens of millions of people devoted to defending Israel. Yossi Sarid and those like him who are fighting against every Jewish feature of the State of Israel all of a sudden remembered that Glenn Beck has not converted to Judaism yet.

They are as mindful of Beck’s religious convictions as they are of a garlic peeling, and truthfully, so am I. Beck is guiding tens of millions of people to the unconditional love toward Israel. That is why I see an ally in him. That is what is behind Yariv Oppenheimer and the Haaretz newspaper’s viewing him as an enemy.

What bothers them is not his religious beliefs; what is eating them is his love of Israel and the fact that the lies they have been spreading for 30 years now leave him unharmed. He is immune to auto-anti-Semitic propaganda. While Glenn Beck audaciously stood in the breech, almost alone, for Israel’s protection, Peace Now was looking to stab him in the back. While this is unsurprising, the truth is, there is no behavior more contemptible.
