Hillary Clinton’s Aggression Has Weakened U.S.-Pakistani Relations

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke to us very harshly, stating that if Pakistan does not start an investigation against the Haqqani Network and help America, America and its army will take this problem into its own hands. She gave us a 15-day deadline to accept her proposal.

There are certain manners one needs to have when they make a request. I think it is proper that the Pakistani government act cautiously and does not talk back to Hillary Clinton aggressively. Her manner of speech, however, was highly inappropriate and rude. She stated that after 15 days, America will begin carrying out its own investigations. She also said that if Pakistan does not obey, America will completely cut off its (already strained) relations with Pakistan.

You see, the fact is that America is losing its war in Afghanistan and is blaming Pakistan for its own failures. Washington will have to give up its mission because all they will encounter in this region is failure. We helped America win its war against the Soviet Union. At that time, America was claiming that Osama bin Laden and Afghan militants were heroes. However, America did what it always does: It disappeared from Afghanistan and left all its problems on our shoulders. Finally, America became the world’s sole super power and began dominating the world. But what did we get out of all this?

Soon after America left, Afghans started fighting each other. There was chaos there. America could have helped bring peace to Afghanistan at this moment. It could have helped them create an effective, peaceful government. It did not. Peace only came when the Taliban arrived. With the help of Pakistan, the Taliban claimed power and brought peace and stability to eighty percent of Afghanistan’s areas. Justice was established everywhere. It implemented strict laws there and severely punished criminals. Afghanistan became so stable that if a woman were to wear the most expensive jewelry and step out in the streets at one in the morning, no one would dare steal her jewelry or her honor.

Then America disrupted the peace that Taliban had brought to Afghanistan. It groundlessly blamed the Taliban and Osama bin Laden for the attacks on the World Trade Center and used such allegations to attack and destabilize Afghanistan. It committed unmentionable atrocities there.

The truth is that America is using the Haqqani Network issue to convince its public that it is attacking this region because of terrorism. It does not want its public and NATO to know about all the sacrifices that Pakistan has made in this war over the years. There is peace inside America and the NATO countries. There is no peace inside Pakistan and Afghanistan. It is clear that Clinton’s attitude in Islamabad had much to do with America’s own defeats and failures, and had little to do with us.
