The famous Mexican warlock Antonio Vasquez has given his prediction: “Barack Obama will lose the presidential elections this coming November.” This presage is not related to the warlock’s Republican political affiliation, nor is it a mere act of pessimism. This prediction came to light because the warlock knows more than ever that Obama’s popularity is not the same as four years ago and for many other reasons.
Obama arrived into office as an alternative to a worn out government, the least popular since Nixon’s. The Democratic ballot emerged as the choice of young voters, libertarians, minorities and majorities. It was this change of baton from one generation to another and the use of new technologies that made the president “cool.” However, everything pointed at a very difficult duty: To take over the country in the middle of an economical recession, an unfounded war, unemployment and multiple bankruptcies.
Democrats shared the idea that the state should guard and supervise the nation’s economy. However, the problem is that Obama made certain decisions that are inconsistent with the free market system characteristic of the United States. Furthermore, 32 percent of U.S citizens consider Obama a socialist. The article by Hal Licino, “The Top Seven Marxist-Communist Policies Being Implemented by Obama Today,” talks about how these types of decisions may become counterproductive for a capitalist country with a free market system. This article also accuses some of the measures taken by the current office of suggesting a communist alignment.
Some highlights in this exhibition: For example, according to U.S. bankruptcy law, the secured creditors were paid even before the non-secured creditors, as in the bankruptcy cases of Chrysler and GM. However, this event did not happen as mentioned.
Another of the most controversial cases in this exhibition is Obama’s health care plan, which is very similar to Cuba’s. If the Republican party does not approve this, the article accuses the Democratic party of changing the rules of the U.S. Senate to allow passage by majority vote instead of the required 60 percent. So, the change of legislation in order to satisfy the demands of a leader is another communist tactic, such as those applied by Chavez or Castro.
In the area of education, Obama has introduced a legislative proposal to remove private lenders for student loans, which could only be granted by the government. This means that the government has full and authoritative decision of who gets credit and who does not.
Licina’s article says that Obama has been responsible for demolishing the economy to replace it with state control. Statements like “we have to redistribute the wealth of this country through taxation” reaffirm his commitment to the working class, but with a populist tinge.
The article is a bit extreme. However, it is obvious that his policies on economic issues have not been the most consistent. Instead of supporting the free market, he is destroying it. If the status quo continues, Mitt Romney could be the next to occupy the presidential chair, and with strategies like Reagan and Nixon, the honeymoon will end.
