Once Again, Syria in the International Security Council

The International Security Council is considered one of the most important bodies of the United Nations as a result of its role. Since it is empowered with authority in matters pertaining to international peace and security, it investigates any conflict or position leading to international conflicts. Likewise, it attempts to solve these conflicts peacefully, especially those that threaten global peace. The Council is composed of five permanent members representing the great countries; these countries expect the right of presenting a "veto." The member countries are the United States of America, the Russian Federation, China, France and Britain, in addition to 10 temporary member countries elected by the General Assembly for two-year terms. This means that the International Security Council originated to be a helpful actor in achieving world peace and security. However, what the world has witnessed, especially after the fall of the Soviet Union, is that this Council has been far from working for peace, since it goes far beyond the authorities granted it by its charter through its subservience to the world’s superpower, the United States of America. American influence is a tool to achieve its interests through imposing decisions that serve its policies, plans and judgments, and other impositions that serve the interests of the Zionist entity. The U.S. operates without any decision condemning the practices of this aggressive entity. This is all to the detriment of international law and the UN charter.

The United States of America and with it, the countries of colonial Europe, tried to use the International Security Council against Syria by considering it a country outside of the American sphere of influence, since this country engages in challenging the American-Zionist plans and designs in the region, sticks by the national constants and provides necessary support to the resistance against the American occupation of Iraq and the Zionist occupation of Arab Palestine and other Arab nations. However, Russia and China have caused this American-Western imperialism to fail, since they moved the Syrian issue to the Arab League so it could engage in the same role that it played when it adopted the decision to form an anchor in agreeing to the International Security Council to adopt a special decision in 1973 to declare NATO's hostility to Libya. This resulted in the destruction of the Arab country, as well as the overthrow of its regime, the killing of more than 100,000 Arab citizens and the theft of its oil riches, putting it in a state of chaos and warfare with the groups that cooperated with NATO forces.

Returning to Syria, the Arab League has played a role according to its Arab presence and inwardly returned to the International Security Council, demanding an invitation to foreigners to intervene in an Arab country; an established member of the League. This was because some of the countries of the League have proven that they are only able to follow. They display hatred for an Arab country that sticks by its sovereign decisions of the future and defends the Arab lands against the greed of the Zionists and the imperialists alike for Arab land and riches. Yes, these individuals went as far as to put down the Arab, Arab history and Arab beliefs and values; they put them under the influence of the behavior of the American Empire – the strategic partner of the Zionist enemy – and their allies in the colonialist West. It is these individuals that consider abiding by the Arab nationalist position – represented by resistance, antagonism and Arab unity – a damaging choice that goes against their role and the mission entrusted to them by the enemies of Arab society. Likewise, they find that the unity of Arab society – as the Arabs have manifested it and abided by it throughout their continuous history of struggle – does not serve their vain, narrow interests, although unity does serve the Arab people in their various countries. These individuals contribute to the effort aimed at vacating the occupied Arab land in Palestine from its Arab geography, since they consider the Zionist enemy that occupies the land and makes its Arab owners homeless and harmless to Arab society. Thus it is necessary to stop the hostility of the Arab umma.

Yet the strangest thing in the behavior of this faction is their support for the American-Zionist plans, campaigns and wars against the Arab states, since we witnessed how the land was opened to the military bases of these enemies. The enemy and his military devices left these bases to occupy Iraq in the month of March in the year 2003. What happened next was a bloody, destructive, dirty war on the Gaza Strip at the end of 2008. Here, we do not mislead or do wrong in that everyone has seen American planes go off to shell Iraq from their bases in an Arab country, just like what they saw as the American army with its tanks crawled to occupy Iraq from another Arab country. As for what pertains to the aggressive wars against Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, the American military bases and the ammunition and gear was key in supporting the Zionist enemy in these antagonistic wars.

As for those that call for the use of careful force with Syria and its people, they practice—with their works and policies – the true antagonism toward this people. Next comes the damage to Arab society, because those who invite the American, Western and Zionist enemy to cause acts of destruction and killing against an Arab country whose only sin is staying true to its Arab nature and national identity and defending the interests of Arab society are the fundamental partners in the crime that causes destruction to this country. How is it not so, while these individuals depend on the premise of begging foreigners and their bullies to strike against other Arabs? How is it not so, when these individuals consider the United States of America a liberating force and not a force of occupation, killing and colonialism; a power to guarantee and protect the Zionist entity that rapes the Arab land – that is the Jews of the holy city of Jerusalem – in view of the Muslims and Christians? Then how is it not so, when the satellite channels are empowered to launch an ugly media war against Syria based on distortion, falsification of reality and incitement to destroy Syria’s institutions and kill thousands of Syrian citizens and troops?

Once again, both Russia and China are on the lookout for anti-Syrian policies, since the two great countries elected, through their knowledge of the truth of what is going on in Syria and the truth of it is being targeted by the Western states and some of their lackeys within the Arab countries, to present the right of “veto” in order to protect Syria, whose security represents a safety valve for the security of the entire region. In addition to this, the two countries have vital, important interests in this region. Therefore, Russia and China are working on not completely falling prey to imperial American hegemony and control.
