US Special Forces Train Syrian Rebels in Jordan

We have been informed by a French military source in the Middle East that American instructors are training rebels from the Syrian Liberation Army who have crossed over into Jordan.

“They have been organizing, supervising and advising Syrian insurgents since before the end of last year,” our source continues.

This training takes places at the King Abdullah Special Operations Training Center, situated north of Amman, the Jordanian capital.

The members of the U.S. Special Forces are participating in this training with the goal of strengthening the operational capacity of Bashar al-Assad’s opponents, who are indeed struggling in the face of the Syrian army’s air superiority. British special forces and a handful of their French counterparts are similarly aiding Syrian rebels, again at King Abdullah Special Operations Training Center.

U.S. Special Forces deployed in Jordan are also “entering Syrian territory” in order to keep an eye on the regime’s chemical weapons. Their dissemination at the hands of the jihadists or the pro-Iranian Lebanese Hezbollah is cause for much concern, not only for Israel and the United States but also for Assad’s ally, Russia.

The other day, we revealed that the U.S. Delta Force had been deployed in Harissa, north of Beirut — officially for the training of their Lebanese counterparts. However, these units are in fact also making forays into Syrian territory.

Yesterday in Rome, John Kerry, the new U.S. secretary of state, announced the provision of non-lethal assistance to the Syrian rebels (bulletproof vests, armored vehicles and training). But, as is often the case in times of conflict, the special forces did not wait for any official announcements before taking action — with the utmost secrecy, obviously.
