It’s clear from U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s statements regarding the crisis in Syria, made during his tour to a number of European and Arab nations, that his administration still insists on its aggressive policy against Syria and its people. The U.S. administration is working to pre-empt any political solutions that are incompatible with its imperialist interests. The reason, simply, is that the administration continues to depict itself as master of the world, entitled to conduct its affairs as it pleases and control peoples’ destinies, decisions and choices. It doesn’t want to admit that the time for unipolar hegemony has passed, never to return.
Kerry’s evasive style and the obvious contradiction in his statements clearly confirms that he has several additional scenarios up his sleeve to continue targeting Syria, and to parcel out those scenarios among friendly nations so that each state may implement the role assigned to it according to what the U.S. decrees — and always under direct U.S. supervision. Sometimes his administration supports political resolution per the Geneva Communique, while at other times he has openly confessed to his country’s support of insurgents and its encouragement of other parties conspiring to support them.
Kerry’s predecessors were accustomed to installing themselves as the people’s guardians and spokesmen on the people’s behalf, which Kerry repackages as the “loss of legitimacy of the regime” in Syria. He forgets that Syrian leadership never once derived their legitimacy from the U.S. administration and its institutions but from the will of its people, who have confirmed to the whole world their commitment to its independent, national decisions and the unequivocal rejection of any foreign interference. The Syrian people did not and will not empower Kerry or any other to speak on their behalf, and they do not recognize the origin of the U.S. administration’s legitimacy and its pursuit of stripping the people of their freedoms and upstaging their decisions.
America doesn’t pay attention to the people’s interests, and its claim to be concerned for the Syrian people is pure lies. If the U.S. is truly keen on this, it should first and foremost stop supporting insurgents and provoking their rejection of dialogue. In reality, however, the Americans want to destroy and weaken Syria, firstly in order to preserve Israel’s security, and secondly so that Syria will no longer be a roadblock in the way for its aggressive regional plans.
America has become synonymous with evasion and hypocrisy. It barters with people’s blood and claims to care about their rights at the same time. It disseminates false accusations and is an expert in deceiving and lying to any country that refuses to be subsumed by its criminal policies and under its Zionist cloak. It still has a hand in the violation of freedoms and human rights, committing crimes and exporting organized terrorism to all parts of the world.
