Hillary Prepares Her Campaign Memoirs

Hillary Clinton’s editor, Simon and Schuster, just announced that the former first lady, former secretary of state and Barack Obama’s potential successor will publish her memoirs. The book will be released in June 2014, several months before the mid-term elections. Neither the title of the book nor the total amount that Hillary will receive has been revealed. Considering the popularity of Barack Obama’s former secretary of state, it would be surprising if the contract were inferior to that of her previous book, which totaled $8 million.

According to the editor, Hillary will talk about the defeat of Osama bin Laden as well as the Arab Spring, China and climate change. But this book, which will be released in the middle of next year, will also be a way of taking the country’s pulse. The book launch will accompany a massive promotional campaign. The ex-secretary of state will run around the country in every direction meeting readers, who are also voters. These trips will allow her to feel the mood of the country with regard to her possible candidature. She will also meet elected Democrats. Even if she rules out, temporarily, all candidature because her four years at the head of the State Department wore her out, when she is campaigning for her book she may be tempted to try the primaries again.

Hillary possesses a number of assets. She has, in particular, undergone an extraordinary transformation. Her personality, when she occupied the White House with Bill, sparked violent allergic reactions. She was hated by a large party of voters who found her arrogant or, rather, her influence on the president irritated and caused fear. The always gallant Rush Limbaugh nicknamed her “femi-Nazi.” Today Hillary has become an icon not only for feminists, but for women around the world and a large part of American voters. And women represent 51 percent of American voters. Everything is open for Hillary, and her memoirs are coming out at the right moment.
