US Internet Hegemony Exposed: Facebook Deletes 'Caring Hong Kong Power'

Facebook, a website inextricably linked to U.S. intelligence systems, on Nov. 28 suddenly forced the mandatory shutdown of the “Caring Hong Kong Power” group, which had over 10,000 members. Former CIA employee Edward Snowden recently revealed the existence of the U.S. global monitoring network called PRISM — since its inception, intruding on computers and networks in Hong Kong in 2009, Facebook has continuously been a participant. Facebook’s removal of the “Caring Hong Kong Power” online group has exposed the Internet hegemony of the U.S. This removal has rudely interfered in Hong Kong’s internal political affairs, suppressed patriotic love for Hong Kong, created a one-sided view of the issue, caused serious harm in making it one country with two different systems and violated basic human rights, which must be condemned. The U.S. government must be held responsible to the people of Hong Kong, apologize for its misconduct and swear to no longer rudely intrude upon Hong Kong’s computers and networks through hegemonic intervention.

Facebook is one of the largest Internet companies in America, with a number of investors and executives who have a background in U.S. intelligence agencies. Facebook also played a role in the Color Revolutions in North Africa and the Middle East, encouraging, motivating, leading and playing a subversive role for multinational regimes, which forced some countries to cut off their Internet connections or to block Facebook’s website. With regard to this issue, international media sources pointed out that “we must study the rise of Facebook, which has been molded by globalization, undergoing well-thought-out and deliberate experimentation.” On the day before the 16th anniversary of Chinese reunification, opponents instigated the July 1 rally and “Occupy Central.” On this occasion, Facebook extended a dark hand to Hong Kong, forcing the mandatory shutdown of the “Caring Hong Kong Power” group, demonstrating U.S. hegemony over the Internet by brutally intervening in Hong Kong affairs.

“Caring Hong Kong Power” unequivocally opposes the Occupy movement, which irritates the opposition to no end, causing attacks and suppression on its part. Opposition media sent paparazzi to violate the privacy of the convener of “Caring Hong Kong Power,” Chen JingXin, constantly applying pressure to try to shut the group down. After this series of attempts to suppress the opposition, foreign forces were sent behind our backs and used their Internet hegemony in favor of the opposition, deleting the “Caring Hong Kong Power” online group, undermining morale and dispersing supporters. The U.S. used this hegemony on the Internet to work with Hong Kong opposition groups in order to suppress the ability to love Hong Kong, creating a one-sided view of the issue and explicitly demonstrating the close connection between the U.S. war on our networks and the opposition.

Facebook deleting the “Caring Hong Kong Power” online group indicates that the U.S. has had a pervasive influence on Hong Kong affairs. In recent years, all sorts of strange events have happened in Hong Kong, but as it turns out, the U.S. was playing a role all along through its Internet hegemony. The U.S. is the world’s number one Internet thief, illegally infringing upon and recklessly invading Hong Kong computers and networks. Not only did it not apologize for these actions, but it even expressed dissatisfaction at the decision to let Snowden leave the country in accordance with Hong Kong laws, which reveals its overbearing arrogance. Hong Kong will never accept the groundless accusations of the U.S. Now, after Facebook has deleted the “Caring Hong Kong Power” group, the U.S. is a “thief crying thief,” disgusting the Hong Kong people even further. The U.S. must be held accountable and put an end to its brutal intrusion in Hong Kong affairs through its Internet hegemony.
