Holger Schmale on the terror alert from the United States
The U.S. has put half the world on standby with a terror alert. U.S. security authorities have announced the potential threat of attacks by al-Qaida groups on western embassies in the Middle East and northern Africa and have called for higher alert. The warning is based on intercepted electronic communications between al-Qaida leaders, according to The New York Times.
We know what you’re up to. In a situation where the signification and authority of U.S. intelligence services is being criticized — even from within the U.S. — because of excessive bugging and spying worldwide, it is attempting to quickly re-assert its power with a fresh terror alert.
The more that is known about their undercover operations — thanks to the reputable whistle-blower [Edward] Snowden — the more the distrust in the secret services increases. Quick action seemed the best option to those in power. No one will be able to check if this terror alert is genuine, or if it was all a distraction method. Only one suspicion keeps growing — that we have been systematically messed around with in this spying scandal.
