Comment on 'Obamacare,' a Successful Health Care Reform

A smear campaign was being carried out against the American health care reform called “Obamacare” — but it has failed. The Americans have long adopted the reform.

For years, Republicans have opposed Obama’s health care reform by demonizing and spreading crude lies about it. For instance, it was said that those insured would get microchips implanted, which would hold all personal information and bank details; “death panels” would sort out the seniors and disabled who were not worth insuring; and with “Obamacare,” everything would be more expensive.

It was the ugliest smear campaign that ever took place against a social reform, yet it failed. Toward the end of the registration deadline, those who had signed up for the new health insurance were not so far from the anticipated 7 million. Three million young adults used this opportunity to be insured through their parents, and several million people are making use of the improved service of Medicare, the public insurance for senior and disabled citizens.

Despite so many advocates having lost hope because of so many problems, the most important social security regulation since Lyndon B. Johnson’s reform 50 years ago has now been successful. Anyhow, Republicans will continue their fight against “Obamacare,” as their values extensively oppose such a reform. However, they cannot completely abolish “Obamacare” anymore, as many conservatives are now discovering its benefits.
