‘Run with the Hare, Hunt with the Hounds’ Policy

They’re so sly.

There’s a saying, “Run with the hare and hunt with the hounds.”

Of course, I’m talking about America, Israel’s shield, and their coalition.

The death toll in Gaza is over 40,000. Of those, 30,000 are women and children. Daily massacres in Palestine aren’t even making the news anymore. The voices of pro-Palestinian supporters are being silenced; the degree of oppression and intimidation now imposed on those who show support for Palestine in the U.S. and Europe is unparalleled in the history of democracy. In a clip from Germany, the police are seen violently bringing down a woman holding a Palestinian banner, as if she were a terrorist. Such treatment of a defenseless woman shows how willingly they’ll toss out their democratic values for the sake of Israel.

American Double-Dealing Knows No Bounds

There have been purported cease-fire talks in Qatar’s capital of Doha.

Qatar, Egypt and the U.S. are mediating the talks; Hamas is not taking part. The discussion includes cease-fire conditions and the terms of a hostage exchange. Although Hamas is not participating directly, it does have a negotiating team in Doha with whom the mediators can share terms and consult as needed. Hamas has rejected the results of initial discussions on Thursday and Friday.

Hamas wants the current talks to respect and uphold the cease-fire conditions Joe Biden laid in May, and says that initial talks in Doha have strayed from those terms. The May proposals envisioned an Israeli withdrawal from the Philadelphi Corridor, a region on the Egyptian border, as well as complete withdrawal from Gaza in the final phase. So, the reason Hamas is not participating directly in talks and does not expect a positive outcome from the current negotiations has come to light.

America and Israel Are Trying To Divert Attention

America and Israel are using the cease-fire discussions as a stalling tactic. It looks like Hamas won’t agree to any proposal that doesn’t guarantee Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza. Israel, seems to be thinking “save the hostages first, then continue the genocide.” Israel may agree to a withdrawal during the talks, but if it fails to follow through, it may lose support from allies and exacerbate resistance from countries like Qatar, Egypt and Jordan. Thus, Israel will not agree to any compromise which involvesl a full withdrawal from Gaza, especially the Philadelphi Corridor.

Biden is hoping to secure the title of the “great cease-fire negotiator” in the final stretch of his presidency. The thing is, Israel isn’t planning to comply with the cease-fire conditions set by Biden in May. These talks might become a way to buy America more time until the election. Continued discussions are scheduled in Cairo next week. Let’s see: Will the parties reach a decision there? I don’t think so. Israel has made it clear it does not intend to exit the Philadelphi Corridor, and that a complete withdrawal from Gaza is impossible.

Even if Israel Does Withdraw, It Must Answer for Its Actions

Suppose that Israel decides to pull out of Gaza, effective immediately.

As it withdraws, leaving behind 40,000 dead — more than 30,000 of whom are innocent women and children — and having committed one of the vilest assaults in history, destroying so many homes, will Israel simply get away with it? Will Qatar and Egypt merely tell Palestine, “Ok, now give it a rest”?

Moreover, how will the International Court of Justice’s case of genocide against Israel, a case involving Turkey, play out? After a cease-fire, will the case drag on until it ends without Israel facing any punishment or sanctions?

These are all possibilities. In any event, no ruling or punishment from the ICJ will extinguish the fire of tens of thousands of martyred Gazans. The only way to cool those flames is if Israel feels the pain of burning in the very flames it lit itself, whenever that day comes.

Finally, I condemn Israel’s despicable attacks yesterday on a Turkish Radio and Television Corporation crew. Israel intentionally targeted the TRT team, but the real target was Türkiye, the world’s fiercest opponent of the genocide Israel is committing. I send best wishes to assault victim and TRT reporter Sami Barhoum, head of the Directorate of Communications Fahrettin Altun, and TRT Director-General Zahid Sobaci.
