Sarah Palin’s 13,000 Emails

This weekend’s reading: the 24,199 pages of Sarah Palin’s emails that were released Friday under the Freedom of Information Act.

The messages were not disseminated electronically, but on paper. Journalists had to come pick them up themselves in Juneau, the capital of Alaska. The documents filled six large boxes, and a wheelbarrow was not provided.

The media is racing to be the first to put the messages on the net.

Some news organizations have asked their readers to participate in dissecting the 13,000 emails in order to more quickly know what they contain.

The New York Times has set up a system that allows readers to indicate the interesting passages. They will be notified if their submissions are selected for an article.

Despite the best efforts, no scandal has yet been uncovered. Among the ten “revelations” identified by the Atlantic: the fact that she hoped to have God’s help on the Alaska budget — behavior that should not damage her, on the Republican side…
