A Huge US-Made Disaster!

Today the world is witnessing one of the greatest disasters in history. Iraq, Libya and Syria are three countries with World Heritage Sites, good Human Development Index scores, precious archeological treasures, relics of ancient cities, and modern cities demonstrating their rapid progress. These countries have been destroyed by the bombs and soldiers of the U.S. and her allies, as well as the forces of the Islamic State — also known as ISIS — armed by the U.S. On top of the destruction, the millions of dead, and the hordes of refugees, the removal of Saddam Hussein in Iraq and Moammar Gadhafi in Libya and the weakening of Bashar Assad in Syria have strengthened the Islamic State group and al-Qaida. Previously, those leaders had kept Islamic fundamentalists under control.

According to the prestigious British polling agency Opinion Research Business, more than 1.2 million Iraqis have died as a result of George W. Bush’s 2003 invasion. These figures exceed the 900,000 killed in the 1994 Rwandan genocide, and come close to the Killing Fields of the Cambodian “Hitler” Pol Pot.

During the first four years of the American military occupation, more than 1,000 patrols were conducted in “hostile” neighborhoods every day. Each patrol raided around 30 homes a day. Their mission was to interrogate, arrest or kill any “suspicious” Iraqis; the soldiers were told not to take any chances. The terror caused by U.S. troops is now being compounded by the Islamic State group, which controls a third of Iraq. Some 5 million Iraqis have been displaced by violence since the Bush invasion in 2003. Nearly 100,000 more are displaced with each passing month.

According to Euronews, Libya — once the highest-ranked African country in terms of human development and progress — is now in worse shape than Somalia after U.S. and NATO strikes. Nearly all its infrastructure has been destroyed while its resources were systematically looted. Various “governments” with different “capitals” reign over the total chaos. Libya has ceased to be a real country. Human life is worth nothing there; people are killed over political rivalries or a piece of bread. Although Amnesty International has been unable to obtain reliable figures amid the chaos, it is clear that hundreds of thousands have perished. According to the U.N. Human Rights Commission for Refugees, “at least” half a million Libyans have fled the country. The numbers could be much higher, and they are growing. The Islamic State group and al-Qaida have established important command centers and camps there as well.

According to Europa Press, the civil war in Syria has devastated most cities and left 300,000 dead. 100,000 of those casualties are civilians. More than 4 million refugees have fled. The Islamic State group controls a fourth of the country. Between them, the Islamic State group, al-Qaida, and other groups control three quarters of Syria. Bashar Assad’s government controls only 25 percent of Syrian territory.

There were no chemical weapons in Iraq threatening the U.S., as Bush falsely claimed. The U.N., Germany, France, Pope John Paul II … nearly the entire world begged the U.S. not to invade Iraq. The U.N. forbade the bombing of Libya. World opinion has condemned the U.S. for handing over weapons to al-Qaida and the Islamic State group. How could they choose to reinforce al-Qaida and the Islamic State group in order to get rid of Hussein, Gadhafi and Bashar? They weren’t a threat to America. Inexplicable! The consequences have been dire. Nevertheless, while a sea of refugees floods into Europe, U.S. Republicans are threatening another war. This time, it is with Iran, who also opposes the Islamic State group. Unbelievable!
