Sarah Palin and North Korea

Sarah Palin, who was John McCain’s running mate in his campaign for the presidency, who was governor of Alaska before that and who is poised to launch a campaign for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, just committed a comical gaffe. She said, on the radio, that America has to, in the Korean conflict, support “our North Korean allies.” The host, Glenn Beck, like a great professional scholar, quickly corrected Mrs. Palin.

I know, I know … my friends on the right, who swoon before the banner of American conservatism, are going to tell me that, as a socialist (in fact, I am a Maoist, boys), I am not qualified to comment on the actions of Mrs. Palin.

That doesn’t stop me from saying that I hope, with my best wishes, that Mrs. Palin wins the 2012 Republican nomination. I mean, well, Obama has shown so little as president since his victory that an opponent like Mrs. Palin can only help him.

Should we worry about the fact that Mrs. Palin confuses the north and south? Not really. One would think that under a Palin presidency someone in the White House will have the presence of mind to correct the trajectory of the missiles, if one day it’s necessary to bomb the enemy in this corner of the world.

But, it’s not surprising to see that Mrs. Palin — recently disowned by Barbara Bush (wife of a president who was at least a social democrat, if we compare him to the heroes of the tea party) — confuses North and South Korea: I remind you that she doesn’t read newspapers.
