So ridiculous, so foolish, but so harmless in comparison with what came afterwards. Because now all these actors, writers and artists from the extreme left have been let loose. “[It's] as if they have taken a tumor out of me,” said Antonio Banderas, after Obama’s victory. “And let the powerful tremble,” said the millionaire from his mansions in Hollywood and Marbella.

“I wonder if Bush is a human being,” Lorenzo Silva, the writer, said, rather insanely. “And the most savage, the craziest, the ineptitude of your intelligence services, Bush, are responsible for the dead of 9/11.” Let Zapatero be prepared, then, because we can be sure that Lorenzo Silva will be blaming him for the wounded in Heart, since we now know where to lay the blame for such terrorist crimes since Obama’s victory.

“Come, Obama!” wrote Jesús Ruiz Mantilla, “you are my anti-neocon hero. You’ve extracted them forever,” he said, rejoicing in his use of the imagery of tumors and scalpels reminiscent of Banderas. You’re a fool, a seedy character, obnoxious, possessed, against Aznar. And you, a Cruella de Vil, a fundamentalist, a Cossack, a Mafioso; explode, no less out-of-bounds, against Esperanza Aguirre. Obama, take them out; come to Madrid to do away with them, this bile, uncontrolled and uncontrollable with every line they say.

Obama! Hide! Our extremists are completely out of control. Just watch: if you don’t pay attention to Spain, they will break with you even more than you from your Reverend Wright. And these aren’t just a few crazy fools, as he was; these are everywhere and around here they’re considered quite respectable.
