Mottaki: Changes from America, Cooperation from Iran

Manoucher Mottaki, Iran’s foreign minister, said on Friday that if the United States changes its policies, Iran will have a reaction based on cooperation.
Mottaki said, “Iran is waiting for Obama to show how his policies compare to George Bush’s policies.” A French news agency reported that Mottaki, who spoke at a world economic forum in Davos, Switzerland, continued by saying, “Changes in polices, and an approach which will be met with a collaborative reaction will take place, and Iran is not immune to this public concept.”
Based on this report, the Iranian foreign minister was quoted as saying: “Obama is a brave person and he needs to continue to be brave by saying how the basis of his policies differ from George Bush’s policies.” Mottaki added, “The Americans have done enough by addressing the world. Now, they have to try to listen to what others have to say.”
The annual economic forum in Davos, which began on Wednesday, is taking place during a huge global economic crisis.
Mohamed Elbaradei, the director general of the United Nation’s International Atomic Energy Agency, who was in attendance for this conference, praised Obama for his planned discussions with Iran. He added, “Anytime one wants to isolate a country, an uglier result will form.”
Barack Obama, the new president of the United States, previously announced that he is ready to hold talks with Iran without any set of pre-conditions.
