Trump Wins When It Counts

The billionaire wins in New York. Big time. Should we feel sorry for the Americans now? Hardly.

New York made its choice, and Donald Trump was the winner — big time — with 60 percent of the vote. The outcome was a message to the Republican Party, as well as to the other remaining candidates, delivered with a sledge hammer.

Donald Trump shouldn't be thought of as a serious candidate for the presidency, but he does deserve respect as a campaigner. When the chips are down, he wins.

Those in Republican leadership positions who still oppose Trump — whether logically or out of fear that they will suffer a defeat next November — are getting desperate.

They could still block Trump's nomination at their mid-July convention by cheating and using dirty tricks. But that would further split the party, and to be candid, would also be highly undemocratic. It would be much like the U.S. air attacks on Vietnamese villages that had to be destroyed in order to save them.

Scylla and Charybdis, Plague and Cholera

If the party leadership fails to stop Trump, a lot of “stuff” will hit the fan, and some of it may affect the entire nation. For the Republican Party and America, Donald Trump is a twofer: Scylla and Charybdis, plague and cholera, a package deal.

Presumably, he's even proud of that.

Der Milliardär gewinnt auch in New York. Big time. Muss man die Amerikaner deswegen bedauern? Wohl kaum.
