One step at a time, Donald Trump is climbing the celebrity Everest for those whose cultural presence transcends their career, for the celebrities who help define an era. He is becoming a pop icon. Only a handful of characters, including Mickey Mouse, Harry Potter and Darth Vader have achieved such status. His blonde hair in the form of a sled atop his orange face, from which his arrogant bravado emanates – this image is now at the cultural iconic level of Che Guevara, Albert Einstein sticking his tongue out, or the Beatles and their bowl cuts. Maybe he has surpassed Barack Obama, Trump’s real obsession. In the image above, Inés Bermejo, a member of the production team for the Getxophoto International Images Festival, falls onto a mat imprinted with the face of Trump.

The shift now underway is unlikely to take the form of a dramatic collapse of American power in the Gulf. It is more likely to be subtler and, for the region, more unsettling.
Here was the American president, surrounded by an ultimately submissive team, deciding to go to war on gut feeling and with no visible concern for what it would mean beyond [U.S.] borders.
America’s Achilles’ heel is internal. If it loses this war, it will likely be because much of the media, politicians, and even some of Trump’s allies do not fully understand his policies.
Israel must reduce its military dependence on the United States as much as possible and deepen its technological, military and moral value in American eyes.
