Peace: Rest in Peace

Like a boxer announcing the outcome of a bout with his opponent before it had even begun, Donald Trump celebrated the peace achieved in the Middle East after the draft resolution submitted by his country was passed without opposition by the U.N. Security Council.

This has filled Trump with feelings of delight and happiness, unusually leading him to praise the international body. This is an organization that he had previously harshly criticized, downplaying its role and questioning its raison d'être after eight decades of existence, in an impromptu speech delivered from its podium after the teleprompter and the escalator to the hall had malfunctioned.

For Trump, who applies the rule, "I only show you what I see," peace has been achieved, and Gaza today is far better than it was months ago. Its children, who were being killed by the hundreds while sleeping, are now being killed by the dozens, as in yesterday's massacre. Moreover, they are dying of cold, hunger and disease in tents flooded with sewage and rainwater, while hundreds of tons of aid piles up at the crossings.

"The Palestinians like me. The Palestinians are doing very well actually," was Trump's response to Nadia, the Palestinian correspondent for the al-Arabiya channel in Washington. The real estate developer’s affection for Palestinians is not a secret to anyone in either world.

American bombs have proven their efficacy in wiping out the entire Gaza Strip, killing tens of thousands of its residents and rendering Gaza unlivable for decades into the future. Snipers from what is known as the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, supported by the country which owns the Statue of Liberty, have shown their creativity in hunting down hundreds of starving people waiting at its doors.*

And out of his massive love for the Palestinians, Trump has no objection to allowing for their "voluntary displacement,” pitying the dwellers of tents pitched on piles of rubble, without mentioning who destroyed their homes.

We, too, have loved Trump. And out of our immense love for Trump we said, “Fuck you," while labeling the U.S. ambassador to Tel Aviv a "son of a bitch." This was before Trump returned for a second term, bringing back his full-of-shit trash — trash we eagerly welcomed, both the authority and the resistance, so we could revel in the paradise of mandate and custody.

All this before Trump opens up a "credible path to statehood" for us, provided we pass the merit test. Do you remember the roadmap that eroded away and was buried under the sand dunes of Sharonian stipulations?

*Editor’s note: Israeli forces and foreign military contractors continue to open indiscriminate fire on people seeking aid at “distribution sites” operated by the GHF and backed by Israel and the United States.
